I build agentic AI for service businesses.
Smart Code Shop is a nine-year consulting practice for owners of service businesses: construction, roofing, real estate, accounting, professional services. Workflow automation, CRM cleanup, intake flows, dashboards. Now I'm building agentic AI on top of that same operational layer, assistants and workflows that handle the repetitive customer-facing work without becoming slideware.
A nine-year consulting practice, deepening into agentic AI.
I'm Paul Rodriguez. I run Smart Code Shop, an independent consulting practice based in Denver and operating since 2016. The work has always been the same shape: sit down with the owner of a service business, map the parts of the operation that are bleeding time or losing leads, and build the smallest useful system that fixes it. Websites, CRMs, intake flows, automation, dashboards, the operational glue between marketing and money.
Agentic AI is the next layer of that work, not a pivot. The clients have not changed and neither have the workflows that need fixing. What has changed is what the operational layer can do: an assistant can now handle qualification, follow-up drafts, document review, intake triage, and a long list of repetitive customer-facing tasks that used to require a person sitting at a screen. That capability has to be wired into a real business operation to be worth anything, and that is the work.

Workflow Intelligence Kit
Workflow Intelligence Kit is a forkable foundation for agentic AI assistants serving small service businesses. It is opinionated about deployment (Hermes Agent on Ubuntu 24.04 with systemd, Telegram as the operator interface, read-only data access by default) so a single operator can stand up a working assistant for a specific business, then fork the same kit for the next one. The architecture comes from running the same playbook for nine years of service-business operational tooling, just deeper in the stack. v1 scaffolding is in progress; the design discipline and constraint choices are settled.

Three engagement shapes.
Agentic AI engagement
Workflow mapping, agent design, integration plan, and the actual build. For service businesses ready to put an assistant in the loop on intake, qualification, follow-up, document handling, or another repetitive customer-facing workflow.
Get in touch →Architecture and discovery
Short, focused engagements where the job is to map the current system honestly, identify what an agentic layer would actually change, and produce a build plan you can hand to anyone, including me, for implementation.
Get in touch →Web and operational tooling
The work Smart Code Shop has done since 2016. Business websites, intake forms, CRM cleanup, dashboards, and the operational glue between marketing systems and customer-facing workflows.
